CPA firm receives Colorado’s only woman-owned distinction

July 2016

Westminster's Coet2 certified as Women's Business Enterprise

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (July 20, 2016) – Coet2 CPAs has become the only accounting firm in Colorado to receive national certification as a Women's Business Enterprise, meaning that the accounting firm is majority owned, operated and controlled by one or more females. There are 215 companies in Colorado certified as WBE, but there had been none in the accounting industry prior to Coet2.

The founder and principal partner of Coet2 CPAs is Fran Coet, who has distinguished herself in numerous ways as one of the Denver area's top female businesswomen in an industry that is typically dominated by males. She has been recognized in two separate years as a finalist in the Denver Business Journal’s Outstanding Women in Business competition.

"Coet2 is proud to add this certification to its list of credentials, and we hope our partners, clients and prospective clients will factor this information into their decisions regarding engagement with Coet2," said Fran Coet.

Although Fran has always been the majority owner of Coet2, there are two other owners: Cathie Asmus, CPA, EA, and John Coet, CPA, CFP. A company has to demonstrate that it is at least 51 percent-owned by a woman to gain WBE certification.

The WBE designation is awarded by the Women’s Business Enterprise Council – West, a partner of the WBE National Council. The council believes that the designation helps vendors, corporations and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier/vendor diversity programs.
