The first step is always the needs analysis, basically, what tasks
do you want the software to do for you? Once you have done the needs
analysis, then it's easier to choose the correct software.
- Do you want to do your own payroll, or do you want your
accountant to do it for you?
- Do you really want to take the time to learn accounting, or do you
really just want to write checks, make deposits, and keep track of
your bank balance?
- Will your software yield sufficient information to prepare your tax
returns?
- Will you need properly formatted financial statements for a bank or
other lender?
